Publishing new, dynamic and passionate conservative commentary since 2016, The Mallard is always looking for new writers. If you are interested in submitting an article for consideration, for either our website or our print publication, please follow the guide below.

Please ensure all submissions have a title.

We ask that all authors abide by The Mallard Style Guide (see below), and aim to respond to all pitches within 48 hours of submission. We will return any submissions that do not follow our guide and ask for them to be changed.

Submission Rules

When submitting articles, we ask that authors include in their emails:

  1. A link to any copyright-free images they want included. For this, we recommend using Unsplash.
  2. Their Twitter account (if they have one).
  3. The fullest updated version of their article. Once submitted, please do not send further versions.
  4. A full word count of the article.

Upon acceptance, our editors will get in touch with the outcome of your submission. We look forward to reading your articles!

Submitting to the Website

If you are interested in submitting an article to the website, please send a pitch to contact@mallarduk.com, with the above requirements laid out.

Upon acceptance, our editors will get in touch with the outcome of your submission. We look forward to reading your articles!

Submitting to the Magazine

The Mallard is extremely proud that we are able to publish a high quality, versatile print magazine with a unique theme on the 19th every month. If you are interested in submitting to the print magazine, we welcome pitches sent to print@mallarduk.com no later than the 1st of the month.

Please note that the process for magazine publication is slightly different. In addition to the submission rules above, we ask that authors specify how long their article is intended to be, at a rate of roughly 600 words to a page. So, if your article is likely to be 1,800 words, that is 3 pages.

Upcoming Editions:

October: What is Britain?
November: Treason and Plot
December: Death

FAQ

Is there a recommended word count?
We publish articles of any length. If you are unsure of a length for the website, we recommend aiming for 800 words, but this is only a suggestion.

How soon will you reach a decision about publication?
We judge all submissions on their own merit, part of which includes the urgency and timeliness of the article. This requires some submissions – especially longer ones – to be considered for more time than others.

Can I submit multiple articles?
Absolutely.

Is there anything that is off-limits?
No – we consider articles on any and all topics.
