The Mallard is happy to launch our first essay competition for 2022: Project 22.
PROJECTS, NOT POLICIES
We are looking for projects, not policies. We don’t care about tweaking tax rates. We want proposals like a maglev from Cornwall to Caithness or a Great Western Rainforest, etc. We want you to be inventive; Great Projects of the past still define our politics, from the Panama Canal, to the Taj Mahal, from the Eiffel Tower to the Pyramids and the Sphinx at Giza. We want to define the future of politics.
Two factors will be used to assess each project submitted:
- Grandiosity: Is it cool? Why?
- Feasibility: Is it possible? How?
The winning project will be published in the April 2022 edition of The Mallard print magazine.
We will begin publishing submissions on our website from 10:00 on 1st March 2022, and will continue to do so throughout the month.
The submission window will close at 23:59 on 31st March 2022.
Word count: 2,000 words maximum.
The winning entry shall be chosen by Editor in Chief, Samuel Martin.
